Snakes On A Motherf*ckin Plane
Snakes on a Plane. Took wifey to see this for her birthday last weekend. No lie. She wanted to see it.
I will say this: The whole experience reminded me of watching the DVD release of Dawn of the Dead. (Side Note: I have a major zombie movie problem, although I tend to stick with the Return of the Living Dead and George Romero movies…notable exceptions include 28 Days Later, the Resident Evil series, and Night of the Comet.)
Anyway, watching DOTD,I had the director’s commentary on. Now, as you may or may not know serious, grade A gorey stuff goes down in Dawn of the Dead. People’s heads get blown off, A zombie’s head is pierced with a broken croquet mallet, a zombie baby is shot…that kind of stuff. And almost without fail, when said gorey stuff goes down, the director in the director’s commentary says, completely deadpan:
“…and there it is” or “…there it is. That’s what you came to see…”
I couldn’t help but hearing their voice in my head throughout Snakes on a Plane. The couple attempting to get into the mile high club, the guy being bitten in his nono place in the lavatory, the newly wed couple, ever so in love, buying it the way that they do and last and certainly not least, Sam Jackson delievering the line that people have been talking about since this stupid movie was in preproduction.
That is what I was there for, that was what I paid to see.
Completely satisfing and adequete summer entertainment. 2 thumbs up.

Oh Snap, NACCC Time!
BH wrote an article about the North American Cycle Courier Championships happening in Philly next weekend.
I had a really awesome time when I rode an alley cat earlier this year, but I think that this one will be better enjoyed from the sidelines.
Maybe, I can get out to one or two of the events and take some pix.

Wild Berries in Tinicum - Probably Not Edible
Click thru to a whole slide show from our trip to the Heinz Wildlife Refuge.
Saw a bald eagle too, which was my first sighting of such an animal that did not involve a zoo.
A bald eagle inside the city limits of Philadelphia. Who knew?

Movies, More Movies…
V For Vendetta…The solution to unresponsive government is to blow up legislative buildings. That makes alot of sense. No seriously.
Tristam Shandy Genius, funny as hell.
To Live and Die in LA Not sure why I had the urge to revisit this one. A fantastic and brutal action movie. This movie had to have been a serious inspiration for the makers of Grand Theft Auto….

Found Art, Found Business, Found Money?
Interesting Business Week article about companies whose business models all rely on recycled materials. 2 of the 3 profiled use recycled rubber. 1 makes cycling bags out of mountain bike tubes. — via /.
