Someone named Jason Hare created a blogpost dedicated to my favorite Doobie Brother’s Songs, What a Fool Belives. He includes MP3s of 7 covers….
You can’t go wrong with the original. This was the standout among the covers. Performed with Toy Instruments. Sung like Squeeze. nice.
My wife also hates this song.

Hey, that’s me! Thanks for the shout-out. So my wife hates the song partially because all I do is try to clunk it out on the piano repeatedly, usually while she’s trying to study – why does your wife hate it?
#1)Baby has very specific tastes.
#2)I had the Doobie Brother’s version in rotation on my shuffle for a stretch. It mysteriously came up very often.
#3)And this may or may not be a reason: The idea of Jane Lynch’s character from the 40 Year Old Virgin having a Michael McDonald tape on infinite loop on a wall of televisions, playin ‘Yah Mo Be There’ or whatever.
Fantastic MP3 post. Thanks!
Those are all very good reasons, but I’d bet #2 is the strongest reason. Mine seems to mysteriously come up often as well. My iPod has excellent taste. :)
s’est un morceau qui emporte tout sur son passage. il lave le coeur de tout ce qui n’existe pas. C’est fort .
