Song to the Siren, Performed by the Cocteau Twins under the name This Mortal Coil, written by Tim Buckley.
Background: mrs harridan and I tivo “The Alternative” on VH1. I seperate the music videos on this program into 6 categories:
#1)Videos from Bands that you never heard of before.
#2)Videos from Bands that you wish you never heard of before.
#3)Videos from Bands that you wish you never liked, whose records you have long since sold.
#4)Videos from Bands that you wish you never liked, whose records you hold onto for nostalgia’s sake. Records that your children will one day find, and use to conclude that you were 100% definitely, never, ever cool.
#5)A rare few videos from bands whose sound has stood the test of the time. but the videos are awful.
#6)A rare few videos from bands whose sound has stood the test of time and the video is awesome.
I think that Song to the Siren maybe the first video in a long while that wifey and I agree fits in category #6. Its early 90s art school enough for her, and shoegazer enough for me.
enjoy.

I object to being called “Wifey.” If you want a hot dinner even once this week, you’ll change it. Now.
Ha, The Cocteau Twins. Clearly the standout winners of the Stevie Nicks Honorary “OMG that’s English??” Unintelligible Vocals Award. It’s funny, because I know Jeff Buckley was a huge fan of theirs. But I always considered them more dreampop than shoegazer. I have Heaven or Los Vegas, but never ventured further than that…
