Some cyclist, alot more experienced, and alot more smart then me once wrote that it not a matter of if you are going to have a crash on your bicycle, but when.
Well, today was my when.
We were about halfway thru the first annual hostile city century when I took a wet hard right at the bottom of a hill a bit too fast. The bike just kind of slid out from underneath me. I made contact with the pavement left hip first, then left shoulder, then helmet/head. I can tell from the marks.
My helmet strap was just loose enough to allow the helmet to shift up after it took the brunt of the asphalt hit. The mark pictured above was the result of the left over force.
Important lesson learned: Keep chin strap tight.

hey, it’s not that bad considering all the undeveloped real estate you could’ve damaged up there.
And you don’t sound as bad as when you got doored on South Street.

crashing is not an event. it is not a thing that happens. it is a state, like sin or constipation or chastity.
sweet bump, though.

Ouch. I hope it doesn’t hurt too much.

Dizzamn. Scars, you think? I took a shot right there without a helmet one time. Most of 300 stiches and 20 years later and it is mostly gone. Hope you’re healing up.
