My Son as a Heat Source
Friday night at around 2:30am, I wake to the boy screaming. Now normally, I waken to the end of this kind of thing, ie Mrs. H has gone in and started calming him down.
She’s good like that.
Anyway, I am completely awake and the boy is still screaming.
Mrs. H is not in the bed which means she’s either already in there and not calming him down…or she’s downstairs making herself a sandwich.
The letters w, t, and f are starting to bubble up into my head.
I go to the nursery and there is a screaming woogle and my wife, telling me that we need to take him to an emergency room because he’s too hot.
Luckily for the both of us, I’m too sleepy to panic. I go back into the bedroom and put on some clothes and start looking for my keys. By the time I get it together, Stephanie has come in with the boy, a reference book, and the on-call number for our pediatrician.
The book tells us to lower his temperature with aspirin and keep him cool. About 10 minutes after we figure this out, the on-call RN at our pediatrician’s office calls us back and tells us the same thing.
We try to get some sleep. I don’t think we’ve had a night that rough since he was tiny.
I should take a step back and point out that we have a remarkably healthy little boy. So this was kind of a shock.
Anyway, I spent almost all of Saturday with the boy, keeping him cool, giving him bottles and baby aspirin. He was so tired at one point yesterday that he actually fell asleep laying on my chest. It seems like that hasn’t happened for a very long time. Good thing the air conditioning was on. The kid was like an oven at points.
By around 10am this morning, he was fine. It must have been some kind of 24 hour bug.

The Story Ends With Me Putting Him in the Wall…
This commercial came up at work today. Apparently, engineering is planning a go-kart racing outing.
I’m so there.

Sausages!
This commercial is funny enough to make consider, albeit briefly, drinking the swill that is Bud light.
SAUSAGES!

Tour De Strike
Did I see that right? Was there a union blocking the tour today? And did Christian Prudhomme just barely get them out of the way as the 4 man breakaway came up?
Awesome.
Another exciting finish today.

You can haz PBR.
Graham and I went to a gathering at Penn Treaty Park. They were filming Transformers 2 at the old power station. Bumble bee was there. The Camero. Not the VW Beetle.
